21st January 2015 - Frosty edges

The frost was all around the edges of the faded hydrangea flowers making them look so pretty!!

Another shot for my mentoring group - macro -nature

Uploaded for my extras album
Fabulous frost. I was hoping for frost but its sleeting here so I'm now stuck indoors for the day.... I'll have to see what I can find. The frosty shapes are much sharper than yesterday. have you done something different?

The frost make such beautiful patterns on the edge of the leaves. I love those middle leaves. I find the one bottom left a bit distracting as it is a different focus from the rest, but I don't know how easy it would be to crop it. Lovely shot Pam.

Nice one. It's been snowing on and off here this morning. Too wet to settle though so that's one good thing, although I wouldn't mind a snow picture for my project, cant bare the cold!

@newbank @888rachel Many thanks ladies!! Ruth I did not crop in as close as yesterday as that was when you could see the focus was not pin sharp across the frost. Rachel I took this into Picmonkey and have cropped out the bottom left blurry bits. Hope this is an improvement. Thanks for your suggestions.

The way you're using frost to outline this is wonderful! Your 'mcaro eye' is strong -- I particularly like the way you are using it to bring out shape.

You must have got so close to this flower that there was a danger of getting frosted lens!

At first I wondered if you were able to hand hold at this slow speed, but then I re-read some of your comments. I love shooting frost, but always have to hand hold - hate walking with 2 cameras AND a tripod at 7 in the morning. (2nd camera to hunt a stray bird while my other does better with frost). I go as high as 1250 on the ISO without a noise problem so I can up my shutter speed and aperture if necessary. This one came out really nicely.
