2017 03 03 - Who are you?

My sister and I received a pack of photos this morning sent to us by my brother's partner Kerry. My brother died Christmas Eve 1999 and we have been trying to get papers from Kerry since then which relate to research he did on our family tree. Finally she wrote and said she had some photos of our relatives and she would be posting them to us.
We picked the package up from the post office this morning and with great anticipation opened it in the car as we were eager to see what she had sent us.
There were five photos and we have no idea who they are!! Nothing is written on the back of the photos and Kerry has not sent us any of the research notes we know our brother had.
This is one of the photos of a young woman. Strangely we know that some of my Father's relatives came from Honition, Devon known for it's lace making. I noticed the lace collar she is wearing. I wonder? I would love to know who she is and if she is related to us. We probably never will know.

Updated for my extras album
She's wearing a very pretty lace collar. As someone obsessed with genealogy, I can feel your frustration and disappointment. Hopefully someday Kerry will be willing to share your brother's research. In the meantime, make sure you've labeled your photos!

I've got photos from my Mum's and I haven't a clue who they are and I am so intrigued

Oh that's painful to read, Pam!!! I love this picture, but how terrible it would be to feel *just that close* and not have a conclusive answer! I would agree that the beautiful lace collar is a huge clue...but who is she? My take on it...a gorgeous image, and the jumping off place to make some art! It honours and celebrates her and the others, and the art will be saved. Fingers crossed the rest of the information will come soon!!! (I feel your pain! Been there, too...)

Maybe somebody at some time might recognise it. A bit frustrating and as Kim @genealogygenie says, Kerry might find the research and send it to you. Keep up the communication!

Well I'm just so sorry your brother's what-ever-she-is has chosen to be a real pain in the patooty. She has nothing to gain, after all. My grandmother made lace and tatted, so as Louise said, the photo is a treasure.

Oh I really feel for you Pam. I have photos with no names on them too, but with perseverance I have managed to identify them through distant relatives. I had a photo of a couple who I believed were my great grandmother and great grandfather, but couldn't prove it. My father died when I was only 3 years old and that line of the family disappeared. It was only when I started tracing my family history online that I found contacts who could identify the people for me. Hope you have some success.

Previous generations, for some reason, didn't seem to put names of backs of photos. It has also driven us crazy in our genealogy study on our families. Fortunately, I have been able to identify a lot of those photos of my side of the family. It has helped. No IDing is definitely frustrating.

How frustrating to have half the puzzle, do hope Kerry coughs up some notes for you to complete the picture. It's a great old photo.

You might want to check with @terryliv as he and his wife Rhoda have great experience in running down English ancestry. What an interesting find!

@stray_shooter I know her. That's Aine Fitzpatrick

@stray_shooter thanks Ron. In fact Rhoda has worked on my family tree sending me all the information from Australia! This is how I know some of the family come from a lace making town in the U.K. We have quite a lot of information now thanks to Rhoda and Terry @terryliv. It's just frustrating being sent these photos with no ID!

So mysterious and how wonderful to get some insights from Terry and Rhoda! Always strange when family members try to control information for now real reason. I hope your detective work goes well. In the meantime, I love the image.
