This was when we got back from the vets yesterday tea time. George still groggy and just lay in his bed. Once he started to wake up properly he couldn’t move with the huge collar. Finlay didn’t like it and kept coming in and trying to attack George - nightmare! I managed to get George into the garden but he just wouldn’t move until suddenly he started doing somersaults and fighting with the collar until it came off. I tried the blow up collar but that too came off. I put him in his pen overnight with no collar hoping he would leave the wound alone. At 5.30am I got up and just had to come down to check on George. He was very pleased to see me and is now asleep again under my feet in the lounge. He looks a bit swollen and it looks like it’s painful to walk. He is due some pain relief with his breakfast. Finlay much better with him now the collar off. I am sure George will be ok but I have to say last night was very scary.
I hate those torture collars, Pam! I bought a cotton baby onesie outfit that fit Sophie and I would unsnap it for her to go to the bathroom and then would snap it back up. It worked great! I hope George feels better soon!
It is a very hard time for them and I am so glad you made it through the night alright. I had a dog chew her stitches out the first night - thankfully she was a fast healer. They just have to do it if they can. I hope tonight is even better.
Oh gosh, what an awful time for you. None of my dogs have tolerated the Collar of Shame, Maggie in particular. Mind you, I wouldn't like to have it put on me either!! Good to hear things have calmed down in the canine department.
Poor little George and poor YOU. He'll recover sooner than you!
