Love is a padlock?

This is the bridge over the River Wye in Bakewell. As you can see the trend has been to put a padlock on the bridge to show your love. There are just so many now on the bridge I wonder how much more weight it can take. The cynical me asks myself "how many of these "lovers" are still together? LOL!!

We came across a bridge recently where a sign said that the padlocks had been removed to protect the bridge from the extra weight!
