Black Cap by pamknowler

Black Cap

What a wonderful surprise to see a black cap in the garden this morning. He was taking advantage of me putting out sunflower hearts and mealworms. Such a lovely little bird. Now I want to see the female brown cap.

Uploaded for my extras album

So sweet and soft -- and yet you can see straight down his throat when he sings!

Wonderful color and open beak pose of this beauty. Sometimes when I use denoise for a high ISO shot like this, I mask out the bird so I keeps its detail

@jgpittenger this was a quick edit yesterday Jane and I wasn’t very happy with it. I have bit more time today so I will have another go and mask him out.

How strange, I have had Blackcaps in my garden before, but I haven't seen any for quite awhile. Yet on Sunday the 19th, a male appeared, and has hung around. Maybe last weeks cold weather, has made them move and look for easier food sources.
Not had chance to try and get a photo yet though.
