Wow, that is crazy! Never been to Paris (yes, I know, crazy!), and I just know that i will be one of those poor people one of these days, waiting in line for HOURS!
Beautiful! Wow, I'm glad I missed that line! My husband spent three weeks in Paris on business a couple years ago and I flew over for the weekend. I think it was around this time of year, but we must have hit the timing just right because the only bad line we ran into was at the Eiffel Tower.
I wouldn't even mind being in that line, to have the opportunity to stand in such an iconic location! I probably overuse the word "iconic" when I comment on your photos, but you get such great landmarks!
I love your photos, Helene! You bring back so many memories of my trip to Paris with my mother in 2002. We spent one day at the Louvre, but I seem to remember coming in through an underground level. I know we didn't have to stand in that line! I found one of my photos of the Louvre from that trip, if you'd like to see it: http://flic.kr/p/8KCTXB
It's funny, I've been in that square a number of times, but it's always been empty. Lucky, I guess. What an amazing museum. Would have waited a long time to see it if I'd had to!
