That Santa knows his toys AND his baked goods.
December 8th, 2010
I should adopt this custom, then I wouldn't have to think of 'appropriate' gifts down the ever increasing list. Bah! Humbug...

...super shot though. :-D

Helene - The best part of 365 is that we get to become friends with people around the world and can share our experiences. I shared your photo of Santa with my friend, Don, who lives near me in Chicago. He teaches French to schoolchildren between the ages of 11 to 14, and he loves to educate his students about the French culture, as well as the language. He is very creative, too, as he creates new ways to let them experience France. For instance, he had them save their money over the last few weeks and has then purchased Yule Logs for them, so they can taste this wonderful, traditional, Christmas cake. I thought it would be fun for his class to see a picture of a Yule Log in the window of an actual bakery in France and wondered if you had any photos of one in a shop window from a bakery near your home or work? Perhaps I will also ask him to compose an e-mail to you (in French) asking this, as well, and will contact you through your website. Thanks so much for any help you can provide with this request. :-)

@Swazzette Thank you Sue, you message is so nice. I would be very happy to help as soon as I know what Yule Logs are ;-) oooppps sorry, I suppose this is the cake design like woods? . anyway it sounds really fun for me to chase them in bakeries, I love when I have a special target for my pictures! Please send me an email you or/and your friend Don via my blog, it will be easier than here to share pictures. It's funny I have a American friend who lives in Chicago and who's a French teacher!!! with my best (bises in French) Sue

@parisouailleurs - Great, Helene! Thank you. I know that the cake he is referring to looks like a piece of wood or a log and has red flowers (poinsettias) on it. I will have Don write to you and ask you (in French) what exactly he is looking for. Thank you again! :-)

This is so much fun to see! I love your photos from France - I hope to visit your country some day!

Hi again, Helene! - I spoke with my friend, Don, again and he said that he is unable to access your blog from his computer at school. He asked me to send this message along to you in the hopes that it will ease your communication. Thanks again!! :-
