Serge Gainbourg was a very famous singer, song writter, actor and director. He used to live in this house in a very chic part of Paris near Saint Germain des Près. Since he died in 1991 his house is full of graffities as tributes to his great talent by many fans.

The colors of the graffiti are so vibrant. It may be messy but it is a real tribute.

I love the stories with the photos, makes me feel as though I am touring around with you to a place I am sure I will never make it to in person.

Really interesting Helene. This house looks so 'out of place' in that expensive area. You HAVE to know the history.

Only in Paris....

I am very fond of the decorating of Oscar Wilde's headsone in Père-Lachaise!

Like the colours of the graffiti and the sentiment behind it, but if I didn't know that, I would think that the graffiti is a bit messy. Great capture!

A blast of colour with a purpose - good story, great pic,

You should try making the pic grayscale except the graffiti.

@berend Do you mean "selected" colors on Photoshop? = every thing b&w except graffiti?

Wow, so interesting! I love his daughter's music! Especially 5:55. When my husband and I were in a long distance relationship, I would listen to it on Monday mornings, popping it in at 5:54 (which was when my train would leave). Great memories!

Wonderful shot, thanks for sharing the history of it. I am drawn to the iron work above the grafitti; it makes me wonder what is up there.

@luxvivens If you like French music, you should listen to Daphné - the last album Bleu Venise is fabulous. I discovered it 3 hours ago and i'm listening to it again and again on Deezer...

Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out! I love French music, I listen to Edith Piaf a lot (well, how could I not?) and I like a lot of Franco Canadian artists, too. I'll make sure to check Daphne out! Do you know Jorane? She plays the cello and sings.
February 8th, 2011
@luxvivens No don't know Jorane, but gonna check on deezer too! thanks Lux
If you like Daphne, try Melanie Pain (helinski with julien doré... i can listen to it in repeat mode for 30 times.. what i'm doing right now with Hors temps by Daphne)
