Notre Dame de Paris by parisouailleurs

Notre Dame de Paris

my first "photo stroll" with a 12-24mm, very different way to photograph Paris, I really like it but it's not "my style".

I like the big view you get with a smaller lens for getting an overall feel of a location. But I'm like you...I tend to favor the closer shots. They just seem to have more personality. This, however, is a lovely view of the cathedral with the Seine in the foreground.

Very nice - I like it but you get a lot of foreground so it must be hard to compose.

I think this is great.

Great view of Notre Dame - I love a wide angle - you might get used to it do you think?
January 7th, 2012
It is never wide enough

Nice shot! I love my wide angle lens. However it doesn't work for all situations.

Why does it always remind me of a very large cruise liner!

Love the view and the colors

This is a different style for you Helene. A nice wide view. Love all of the crossing lines in the sky.

Definitely a different style for you, but I like it!

Wow, amazing perspective Helene!

My jealousy that you get to shoot in Paris all the time, I like this shot very much with all the lines moving in the scene. I've been shooting with an 11-16mm the last week and it is very challenging--a whole different discipline. I have seen a lot of nice photos with very wide angle lenses that place an object very close in the foreground and then allows background fill in--think I've actually seen just that kind of photo of the plaza at the Lourve with the pyramid in the background. Just some thoughts. Good luck with the lens. Hope you really enjoy it.

Very pretty

meant to say, "my jealousy . . . aside."

This is a wonderful image. You get to see your city through a whole new set of eyes....as it were. Have fun.

I like the ic and the very special perspective it gives, but it's difficult to use sometimes. I'm like you, it's more natural for me to use a longer focal length

Great perspective, I really like this nice wide view.

@parisouailleurs / Were you carrying the tripod around on the stroll, too?
January 8th, 2012
@bonniebouman yes! but i didn't use it, at the end of the day i had the tripod in one hand, the camera in the other one and i was just taking pictures, trying to avoid cars, that the only thing i could do!
