I had a lovely day out to Malvern with my sister today.
We had a little time to kill before our train home so I took the opportunity to get some shots of the station.
Sis was getting drinks for us in the tea room when I took this, it felt like I'd stepped back in time.
Malvern is a spa town and became a very popular tourist spot for Victorians. Charles Darwin brought his sick daughter here to take the waters. Unfortunately she didn't survive her illness and is buried in the Priory churchyard in the town.
This reminds me of Newcastle station (Newcastle New South Wales that is). Sadly the station is now closed. I hope they don't demolish it.
This station featured on a Michael Portillo railway journey episode that I watched recently. It's history is quite interesting.
