The Wonky Jetty by paul10

The Wonky Jetty

With the boy still taking his early morning swims (though happily 6:30 and not 5 o'clock for the half term week) it has meant I've been able to get out to our beach the last couple of mornings. Today's was a non sunrise. A big band of thick black cloud saw to that, but there was light, not a lot and not on the same horizon as to where the sun probably did rise -I'm sure it did but we certainly didn't see it. So instead of fretting over lack of light or colour I spent an hour doing some long exposure photography using the groynes as my subject. I also wanted to try to capture some water streaks with one and two second shutter speeds to try to capture texture in the moving waves. I could have done with getting to this little jetty about fifteen minutes or so earlier (the tide was going out and high tide was an hour earlier) but I (almost) achieved what I was after. Regardless of the results (and I really like this image) an hour on the beach is better than an hour spent indoors wishing you were out doing something else. This is a 1.6 second exposure in case you're interested. Oh, and tomorrow morning Helen and I are heading to Mablethorpe for a sunrise shoots with Dexter Dawg. Can't wait, though I'm not sure H is looking forward to the 5 o'clock start :) Nice on black even if I do say so myself :) :)
Fabulous photo, Paul! It looks the way I would imagine loneliness to look. You have captured it so well. FAV!
