White House Broken Window 2016

I ventured out into the rain again tonight, but this time to photograph my local churchyard. On the way out I saw the white brick house that sits across the way from it. The paint was peeling and it looked sad sitting there in the wet. But it wasn't until I got to this that window that I realised just how sad the house was. As far back as I can remember (from my childhood days) the woodwork had always been blue. That too was peeling and rotting and some of the windows had been smashed inwards, most likely by mischievous kids with nothing better to do. A guy came by walking his dog so I asked him about it. He told me the old lady who lived there had had to move to a home because she couldn't cope there anymore. It's sad to think of the house that always looked so nice and bright on hot summer days is now falling into decay - a lot of places in our town are. Maybe someone will come along and rescue it. I hope so :(
I really love this - so much texture and character , lovely colours and a sad story to go with it that makes you stop and think. Fav as soon as I saw it

I love Windows and this is a wonderful one with the blue color, feel a bit sad too and why not cos itΒ΄s a sad story, I hope the old lady is taken care off now.

Nice shot - sad that the lady has gone into a home and so the house is now uncared for.

I hope this place gets rescued. What a shame to have it just sit there and decay when it could be "reused" and enjoyed again.

Great image. You can tell by the curtains and the color that this was once loved. Nice story too - and you're in the same place since childhood!

Love the texture and colour and lace curtain in this, fav. Yes, one does feel sorry for old abandoned buildings, but they certainly can provide great photographic opportunities.
