Story Time

I said in my first rocking chair post the other day that we bought the rocking chair after an idea had formed in my head while Helen and I were out walking the boys. This is that idea. Emma-Grace is lit from the side by a large soft box (with grid). The little light on the table is lit from behind with a flash gun on low power, while the heart on the wall is lit by another flash with a grid covering it to control the spill of the light. I did add the glow of the lamp light on the floor in lightroom. The whole set up took a me about an hour to figure out (I have limited space to work with) while Emma-Grace was at school. I decided that was for the best so she didn't get bored with me stumbling about trying to get my setting right. I'm so pleased with the result, and I don't say that about my own work very often. But I love the warm, and cosy, feel to the image, (adding the heart on the wall was almost an afterthought) and Emma-Grace, my little superstar model, played her part beautifully, even reading the story aloud to her Charlie dog while I took the shots :) It does look nice on black if you have the time :)
What a great shot, so very well thought out and perfectly put together. I can't fault this photo at all. Everything is just right and it tells a beautiful story. a huge fav.

This is a great shot Paul - I love the way it tells its own story as well as the story Emma-Grace is reading. Beautiful lighting and tones. Think we should see a lot more of your ideas using this chair! Fav

Very beautiful on black. You are certainly adept at pulling your vision together - a skill I am lacking! This should be framed and saved for Emma-Grace to have when she is grown. Really beautiful work. Fav.
