Cross and Anchor

Took this at Cleethorpes cemetery today. I was hoping for some ethereal shots with smooth skies and praying angels but nothing seemed to work. This cross was flanked by a load of other stones at the edge of the cemetery. It was an awkward image to shoot. This was the best angle. Looks ok on black :)
I love going round cemeteries ,so many interesting stories there . The detail on this one is fabulous and works so well in black and white

@ilovelenses. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I did get a few funny looks from passers by and one disgusted look from one woman. She obviously didn't take kindly to my intrusion on the dead, though I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have minded in the least.

Great find and an excellent capture. It does look good on black. I also think cemeteries are very interesting to explore.

An interesting looking memorial - love the textures. Wonder what the anchor denotes? I find cemeteries and graveyards so interesting.

I'm guessing he was a sailor and/or died at sea!

Lovely shot, I too like to wander the gravestones and wonder about all the lives and stories that have gone before me

Does look great on black. I like how the inscription is very simple.
