Sea Defence by paul10

Sea Defence

This morning, after dropping the boy off for his swim session, I headed back to Cleethorpes beach for another sunrise shoot. I tried photographing the groynes but the tide was just too far out for a long exposure shot, which was what I was after, so I headed over to the sea wall instead. I've never photographed this part of our beach but always thought it might be a good spot. I would have liked the tied to have been further in, but since I don't control the tide :) Anyway, I literally got one shot off, a four minute 16 second exposure, before all the light had gone. I was worried I'd messed up by placing a cloth over the eyepiece as it was windy and the image looked out of focus when viewed on the LCD screen so I was well pleased when I loaded it onto my computer to find it wasn't out of focus at all. Even the basket in the distance looks good and defined. Maybe my LCD screen needs cleaning :) Now, I didn't like my previous post ( https://365project.org/paul10/365 ) It just didn't work for me, but this, I'll happily say I love it. Maybe it's because the sky is cleaner (no contrails here) in this image, or maybe I'm just happier shooting longer exposures for that peaceful surreal effect. Maybe it was just my frame of mind the other day :) Looks nice on black :)
Sublime FAV!

When you compare the two, yes, this one is better. A four minute exposure! Wow! I need to try that sometime. Do you use a filter? I think the simplicity of this shot is nicer, along with the lines of the sea wall. The other photo was "blocking" the eye with the wall. Still, a very nice image!

I'm trying to choose my favorite from the two mentioned and shown. They are both so beautiful and I would have such a hard time choosing. In fact, I can't! I love them both. OK....maybe this one - love the peaceful appearance - such a lovely image.
