My mom, nanny as we called her, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday. This was the last photo that I took of her. It was taken in January on her 80th birthday. Is this photo perfect.....absolutely not. But it does capture the essence of nanny perfectly. When I asked her what kind of cake she wanted for her birthday, she said she wanted a wedding cake kind of cake. So, as you can see, that is what I got her:)
She hated to have her picture taken, so I don't have many of her. I wish I would have insisted. I wish I had taken a proper portrait of her. If I just had more time, I would do it.......I would insist.
I'm going to miss her so, so much.
oh Paula, this is a beautiful shot, and she does not look at all close to 80!! I have been thinking of you and hoping you have been ok over the last few days with your family......sending you big hugs xxxxx
I think it's an absolutely perfect shot of your mom, Paula. She looks wonderful. My hear aches for you. You've been in my thoughts often these past few days.
I think that this is a great portrait. She looks pleased and content. I noticed the one fork near the cake. Did she have to share it? I'm thinking 'What a wise woman to think of having wedding cake!' Why not? It was her day, and it shows her good spiritedness. So sorry about your loss, but isn't it better in a way to go quickly, while you are still yourself? Does that make sense?
Condolences to you and family! Your Nan looked peaceful and content in this photo! That is the best keepsake you can treausure besides the memories! God Bless!
Oh, Paula, I'm so sorry for your loss! This photo of her, rare as it may be, IS perfect and a wonderful way to remember her. I'm sure your memory has many, many portraits and snapshots for you to look back on, too. God bless you and your family at this difficult time; I will be keeping you in my prayers.
Paula, this is such a great portrait of her. She looks like she had a beautiful soul -- you can see it in her eyes. I'm so very sorry and will keep you in prayer.
I'm sorry too for your loss. It is a wonderful shot, and great last one. I think you will agree in time. So glad you got this one. Take care, and prayers are with you and your family.
So sorry for your loss. She has such a sweet look about her. You two had something special. Love this picture. Adorable that you got her a wedding cake for her birthday!! Take care!
Oh Paula, I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful portrait and one that you'll treasure forever. It will bring back many fond memories for you, I'm sure! God bless you and your family.
just saw this and feel for your loss. It also looks like this is the last picture of your project and think she would be proud of your entire project also.
Paula, I know you're still grieving for your mother. I know it will take a long time. But, I'm sure she knew what a talented photographer you are and would want you to continue posting your pictures to share with everyone. I hope to see your beautiful photos again soon. Take care.
What a wonderful natural portrait where her spirit seems to shine through. So very sorry for your loss Paula! Thinking of you and hope you are doing ok.
