yarn bombing :-) by paulaag

yarn bombing :-)

104 / 365
Earlier this week, Trina (@5unflow3r) posted a photo of a pole that had been yarn bombed. I told her that I didn't know what yarn bombing was and that people don't do that here.....haha! Today while I was walking I noticed that we have a new store, The Groovy Girl Yarn Shop, and there are plenty of examples of yarn bombing in their lawn. So yep, yarn bombing has made it's way to the midwest:)

I've attached a link that Trina posted for me so that I could see more example of yarn bombing, in case you are so inclined to see more.....here ya go;)

Too funny! How much work went into wrapping that tree?!
posted August 3rd, 2012
@lisjam1 , the tree was wrapped, the stair railing was wrapped, a small table and chair set were wrapped and even the stepping stones were wrapped!

Very cute! We have loads of examples of yarn bombing around Melbourne. Many of the local primary schools, including ours, have gotten involved. I've even posted one or two shots of it in my album. Glad to see that the Midwest is catching up with world trends!

@terryvet92 , we are usually a bit behind the times here.....hehe!

This is so funny, Paula! I'd never heard of it either! Thanks for the link about it! I suppose I'll go out tomorrow and find my trees wrapped in yarn! I hope no one in the Boston area has heard about it! It's way too hot and humid!

LOL! It's been around for a while now - even in South Carolina! Cool capture, Paula! As a crocheter, I can't bring myself to use my stash of yarn on something like this. It costs too much $$ these days.

I've yet to see this where I live. Some people sure do have a lot of free time on their hands. LOL!

That's very cool! I've only seen pictures on here but have yet to run into the real thing in Florida! Great shot!

@cromwell , maybe you will see yarn bombing within a week......that is what happened to me;) yea.......isn't it very odd? I mean, what happens when it rains?

@terryvet92 , no way?!? I have a bunch of relatives who live in Carroll County. My uncle lives in Deer Creek and my aunt used to live in the Camden area......I think that was her address. Do you know where Lex is? She worked in Flora at Mann Chev for many, many years. My brother works at Chrysler......good place to work!

posted August 3rd, 2012
The same thing happened to me. I was in Washington DC a few weeks ago and found a similar tree, and when I uploaded here, I received all the comments that it's happening everywhere.

How funny! I've never seen that before. I don't know if the tradition has hit Canada yet.

haha - that happens here, too, only they call it "random acts of knitting". I've seen bike racks covered in knitting.
