My darling husband gave me some beautiful roses last week and their scent was absolutely divine; I came home tonight to find that they had finally passed their use by date and had dropped most of their petals. Their scent was still divine.

The flowers continued to serve a purpose even after they fell from their stems.

Just read your comment- I was in sg as a kid too in the mid 70's. It was very different going back as an adult with children but it means sg feels a bit like home esp when NZ as NZ is that much further away. When were you in sg?

Good for you for saving all this as a photo! I couldn't agree more that, though fallen, the petals are still just delicious to smell! This same sort of image also crossed my mind as I had a lot of cut roses that I photographed over that last several days...

you gotta make potpourri out of them, I did with the rose petals I used for the 365 photo I took for the tribute to my Grandpa's passing.

Beautiful shot...I love the gradation of color and the perspective. So nice to hear I am not the only one with a 'darling' husband!

(my friend, Billy, brought over his camera to show me some photos of his cat, my favorite, Dill, and there was a beautiful photo of fallen petals as well. Of course I told him about yours also!)
