Today in the UK we get to make the biggest decision of a lifetime, Polling Stations all over the UK opened from 7:00 am until 10:30 pm for us to place our cross/vote in the EU Referendum either for the UK stay in or leave the single market what ever the outcome it will change all our lives for ever.
@terryliv Your right Terry, Disaster for the UK. Scotland's First minister Nicola Sturgeon is expected to ask for a mandate to vote on independence for Scotland, the pound has plummeted and some large companies will move their base of operations to Europe, that's democracy for you, sorry for the rant and sounding bitter just put it down to being a bad loser :)
Just watching the decision to leave on the news as I'm writing this. I tend to agree with you Peter, I think there will be lots of repercussions for this decision. You might have to move out to Australia :)
@gilbertwood Thanks for your kind words Denise, unfortunately my private pension is tied to the British Stock Market and it will be dropping in value for sure, may ask the Australian Government to see if I can come as a £10 pom, lol:)
@pcoulson Don't blame you at all for being bitter Peter. How could this happen? What planet are they on? Can't they see the trade and economic benefits that have flowed to the UK because of your participation? They'll all be squealing like stuck pigs in a couple of years time because of the rises in the cost of living etc
My son-in-law is a high flyer in the London office of one of the multi national banks and they had already decided that if the vote was to leave, they would shut up shop in the UK move to Europe. So we now have a daughter in tears.
@pcoulson As well as Scotland, I also saw where the possibility has also been raised that Nthn Ireland who voted to remain, my join the south to form a united Ireland. I guess there may be a silver lining in every cloud.
I really did not believe this result could happen. I've been trying to console myself that the very worst HAS happened and it could not get worse but now I see reports online that London wants to sever itself from the UK........
@quietpurplehaze I was mortified this morning and could not believe what had happened, it would appear Scotland are looking to split and Northern Ireland may look to link with the republic to form a united Ireland, some companies have announced they will move their operations to Europe and my pension and investments are tied into the London Stock Market, sorry for the above its I'm a sore loser Hazel:)
I really didn't think the UK would vote to leave. It has already had an effect on our UK pension and our RAF pension the exchange rate is going to get worse I reckon too. Still it could be worse, we still have a few Australian pensions. Hope it doesn't get too disastrous for you.
