My objective with this image was to focus on the background and using a slow shutter speed blur the runners in this weekends Brighouse 5km Park Run as they passed through the shot.
Judging by the amount of blur, I'm going to guess that the gentleman in the foreground on the right was the winner. I suppose that theoretically we could figure out how fast each was going - must be the engineer in me.
@stray_shooter Thank Ron this shot was just after the start and these are mid pack runners the eventual winner was long gone, that's what I liked about being an engineer working out solutions to engineering problems and tasks, simple in this case, Speed calculated by dividing the distance travelled in the time taken, this distance and time through this shot could well be calculated, far better to get the average speed over the race distance, but you know that and who cares as long as you finish, lol:):)
@onewing Thank you for your great comments Babs, this shot worked out as expect giving the impression of runners at speed, tried different shutter speeds but the slower speeds were just a blur of colour with no runner definition:)
@Weezilou Thank you for finding the time to comment Louise its appreciated, it helped that the runners were wearing bright running tops down to the fact the ambient air temperature was just above freezing:)
@teiko Thank you for your lovely comments Emilie, what I didn't mention and one that I didn't nail this time was to take a worms eye view of the runners feet as they passed by' the object to get the shoes pin sharp frozen it time just could not get all the shoes in the shot sharp will have to try again:)
Well done Peter, a great action shot. i love the blur of bright colours as they pass you and the amount of blur too, just enough definition of folk. Something bright on a dank and cold day. is that the end of snow/ice i see on the grass?
hope you wrapped up well..
