My entry in the current black and white challenge Flora, set my camera to b&w, this is a jpeg image straight out of the camera, I only added the border and name. BoB
that has great detail in the petals, I find that black and white straight out of the camera can be a little flat, you could try a contrast/levels adjustment to see what difference that makes, either in post production or as an in camera adjustment if it is an option, ( it is on my canon dslr camera) also some cameras also have a filter option to simulate different colour filters like in the old film days, which lighten and darken certain colours, worth playing around with if your camera menu has some .
@kali66 Thank you for your interesting comments and advise Kali its appreciated, I always shoot only raw images but I had deliberately set my camera for recording b&w jpeg images, the whole object was to take a SOOC image without any filters or post processing, I could of course could have used a number of setting in my (Sony A7Rii) camera or used Photoshop and Nik filters, but that was not what I was after, thank again for your advise, I know you was only trying to help:)
@onewing Thank you Babs, I only did it for a bit of fun to see what detail the camera would record in black and white tones, camera tripod mounted and set at f16 for 5 seconds on a dull day in my kitchen:)
