East Gate

The east gate of Lincoln Castle spent the day in Lincoln visiting relatives.
I used to love wandering around Lincoln when we lived there.

You could have almost bumped into Carole as you were taking photos. @carole_sandford she took a photo of Pottergate recently

@photographycrazy Many thanks Bill yes it is when seen in its intiraty this is a small part of the castle that was built in 1068 so has been standing there some time:)

@louannwarren Thank you for you comment Lou Ann I know you like hear about the history of our old buildings:- In 60AD the Roman invaders built their legionary fortress on this site, In 1068 the Normans constructed their motte and bailey castle here, re-using the remaining stone walls of the later Roman city, Lindum Colonia. now called Lincoln:)
