Armistice Day by pcoulson

Armistice Day

There are 888,246 ceramic poppies placed in the moat of the Tower of London, one for each British and Commonwealth soldier that fell in the first world war, the last poppy was laid today by a 13 year old army cadet at 11 am, each poppy has been sold for £25 the money will go to 6 military charities,
There are thousands of little wooden crosses in the garden of remembrance in the grounds of Westminster Abby London for the fallen in all conflicts, one of which I place in memory of Private John Coulson my granddad's brother and Private John Tate-Hancock my wife's grandma's brother.
A beautiful tribute Peter and your collage has captured it so well. I wonder which one is for Pte Charles Stanley Smith.

What a fantastic collage and a wonderful tribute. I would have loved to have seen this.
I would have loved to have placed a poppy there for my grandad who lost his life at Ypres in 1917. My dad was 1 year old and of course never remembered his father.
