High water by peadar

High water

I've featured this in 365 previously, it's the "Thames Barrier" - one of the largest flood defence systems in the world - and protects London from very high tides on the River Thames. When opened in 1984 it was used sparingly, these days it is in operation dozens of times each year. Climate change??

In any case, here it is, in all its glory, on a very sunny Easter Saturday here in London.

By contrast, the previous shot is here http://365project.org/peadar/365-2017-18/2017-06-22
Very interesting, they look like knights on guard.

Thank you for the interesting photo, I have never seen this. Looks very futuristic...although I suppose the future has already arrived!

I thought the same as Louise @lmsa it does look very futuristic. Doesn't time fly, I didn't realize it has been in operation since 1984.
