Holly blue by peadar

Holly blue

I know nothing about butterflies, but this little chap, and some of his associates, were having fun in the garden and they looked very photogenic!

On consulting the online oracle, I am pretty sure this is a Holly Blue, widely seen across Europe and North America. It is apparently the national butterfly of Finland. I didn't even know countries had "national butterflies"!
brilliant capture and details. butterflies are so hard to capture, they never sit still. I too did not know that countries have national butterflies. We learn something new

Beautiful! I have been actively looking for butterflies this last couple of months ... no luck! When I was a kid there were so many! It’s very sad and worrying what is happening to the natural world and it’s creatures 😢
