Reading Town Centre by peadar

Reading Town Centre

This is St Laurence Church, Reading; the church dates from the Norman period (11th century) but underwent major rebuilding in 1196, in the 15th century and in 1867. A dwindling City centre congregation meant that in the late 20th century it was converted to a "mission church" with the aim of engaging young people in church life.

Just behind to the left you can see the old Reading Town Hall. This is an 18th/19th century building which now houses a museum, concert venue and art gallery.

This is SOOP (straight out of the phone) but cropped slightly to remove some of the dull foreground. Many thanks for your comments over recent days.

Both buildings are gorgeous. They don't build them like this any more do they. Lots of history here.
