Not open all hours

A significant new phase for the UK, with Government directing the closure of pubs, theatres, gyms, leisure centres and so on. Unprecedented in peace time.
All change again today. I am glad for the order to close pubs and gyms etc simply because there were people disregarding the safety advice who wouldn't do it voluntarily. Frustrating and scary when you have older relatives and friends in the high risk group. The wages thing is stunning. I can't help wondering how much debt the nation will be in after this, but I am glad for the leadership and reassurance Boris and co are bringing. He seems to be the right man for the moment. No idea how this will all play out and for how long, but I guess it is just one day at a time and at least we have a Government who are listening to advice and acting on it without being aggressive. Onwards and hopefully upwards, eh?

@casablanca Indeed. Have to agree, I think the Government leadership has been outstanding, and they are really listening to the medics and scientists.

Am so pleased they are listening. Watched the situation in Italy yesterday and the words Get Ready struck dread

I suppose it is actually war time at this point with the virus being the enemy! All of the best to you with your work in the hospitals.

An appropriate shot for the current emergency. The government do seem to be taking appropriate action. Sadly some of the public aren't listening. People are still in long queues outside supermarkets. Malham village was heaving with day trippers today. Unless people listen even more stringent restrictions will be needed.
