A typical bridge scene. This is Bridge no 58 on the section of the Grand Union Canal north of Braunston. The Grand Union Canal itself is an amalgamation of different canals, which merged soon after being built under commercial pressure to ease the transport of freight between London and Birmingham. As a result, the bridge numbering re-starts further south at Braunston Junction.
