It's difficult to escape preparation for the forthcoming Halloween celebrations, a festival I still find slightly alien. Growing up we celebrated Guy Fawkes' Night. Only in maturity can I reflect on the fact that both circumstances owe much to the country's complicated relationship with the Catholic Church.
Anyway, I thought I'd pop down to one of the Village churches and see what I could find. Answer: not very much that wasn't there already!
Super colours on the gravestone, made by the lichen. Apparently you can tell what sort of stone it is by the type of lichen that grows on it, but I have no idea which is which! (So not much help then). Sorry you didn't see any ghosts and ghoulies
I grew up celebrating Guy Fawkes Night too and loved it. Can't celebrate it here, too hot and it creates bush fires. The local kids do celebrate Halloween though
