It really surprises me how big Halloween has become in recent years. According to the National Retail Federation, $4.75 billion will be spent this year on Halloween candy, decorations, costumes, etc. And that's down from $5.77 billion in 2008 - guess everything is taking a hit in this economic downturn.
Clever Halloween decoration - and I'm amazed at how much is spent on this holiday. When we lived in the city, we would have hundreds of trick or treaters and their parents on Halloween. We always served the parents hot apple cider - so we became a favorite stop on cold Halloween nights!
Thanks for confirming what I suspected! Not that Halloween has taken a hit because of the economy, but it seems to be coming more popular every October! Love the yard decor here, for example!
Haha! Halloween yard art! I fear it's coming here, too, as each year retailers seem to be trying ever harder to whip up enthusiasm and are succeeding to some extent.
That's a good one! Can you believe I've not put up any decorations!!! So busy with my bathroom remodel I haven't had time....hopefully today or tomorrow they will be done so I can decorate the front door. My granite is being installed in a few hours...I'm so excited!
That is an interesting fact. I have seen a downturn in the number of children trick or treating over the last few years. Might be because the neighborhood is getting older.
Can't wait to see the finished bathroom project! I know it will be gorgeous!
Thanks for the wonderful comments, everyone! I always appreciate the time taken ~ merci!
@Clarissa ~ double merci for the fav!! :)
