Last Quarter Moon by peggysirk

Last Quarter Moon

I was up most of the night watching the senate runoff election returns from my home state of Georgia. Had plenty of time to snap a shot of the moon at 3:30 this morning.
Three Good Things:
1. Mecklenburg County has started mass vaccinations at the coliseum for citizens 75+ years old.
2. Historic election results
3. Naps
So clear! Nicely done. I love that vaccinations are starting for citizens 75+. Our province can't seem to get it's act together and the injection rate is extremely low.

@sunnygreenwood The logistics are a strain to organize...currently just 2000 doses a week, apparently a few glitches with online appointments, limited numbers of health care workers to administer injections...it’s not going to be an easy or quick undertaking to vaccinate the population. But, the process has begun and that’s a good thing.

A gorgeous capture

Wonderful moon shot! My Cobb County sister is disgusted with the Georgia results...well, it is challenging that we disagree on almost all aspects of politics...but we still love each other. I just change the subject. A lot. And I agree about naps!

@bkp I hear you. I find myself avoiding discussions of politics with certain family members...a lot. I’m hoping for calmer days ahead.

My father in law has JUST this minute had his second dose - hurrah! Could do with them to call my dad for his. Great turn out in Georgia 😃

@judithg Sounds like the UK is moving right along with vaccinations. Good that your FIL is fully protected! Pat Knowles mentioned that her Harry’s second dose was being postponed for 12 weeks to make more first round doses available. Does the UK have different district plans for distribution/administration?
While North Carolina is underway with phase 1b, my mother who lives 30 miles away in South Carolina is still waiting for that state to implement a plan for the 75+ crowd.

@peggysirk it’s a national roll out - I’m not sure who decides who gets what and when but a few GP surgeries said they were too pressed and couldn’t vaccinate as well. Most seem keen because they have a stream of enthusiastic customers to lift the gloom. There are also some Superhubs coming on stream. My dad is in a rural area so perhaps they don’t have as much leverage but he should get it soon I think. Nigel’s dad shouldn’t really have had the second one yet but the people administering said they couldn’t cancel and rebook others in time so better to do the second and be sure not to waste any of it.

Yes we watched the news on our news programmes...looks a good & quite historic choice. I see trouble at the Capital Building tonight, you will be so glad when Inauguration day has passed by successfully!
The world is in turmoil!
@judithg Glad your dad has his second one done & dusted. I think our local vaccine hub were very reluctant to cancel the second dose but they said it was NHS policy.

@happypat What is going on in Washington right now is heartbreaking, dishonorable, and outrageous.

@peggysirk I’m appalled as I am sure are all previous presidents & current members of both houses. I fear that Trump is leaving a very dangerous legacy.

@judithg From my point of view it was a shocking display of blind allegiance to a troubled man over nation.
