Well, this is it!! At least for my first year. I have worried about this photo for a week! I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but I just wasn't sure how to pull it off.
Let me say that this is actually my sky, I am very afraid of heights, and there was just enough wind this afternoon to make this very challenging, but thanks to my wonderful assistant (my sweet husband Don) it all came together.
I have learned more in the last year than I ever could have imagined, and made friends from every corner of the world. I will be stopping by to check in on everyone's photos, but probably won't start posting my photos regularly again until this Fall when our summer "lake" company lightens up.
I love this shot of you "floating away" in celebration. Congratulations on reaching 365. I will miss you while you are gone, but do understand about your need for a break. I will await your return.
Congrats!!! Lovely "final" shot... we will miss you, but totally understand the break :) I've been checking in now and again, and occasionally posting since my "final 365" shot but have also enjoyed the break.
oh sheri, a huge congratulations! i have to admit i'm bummed you won't be around as much though, but i surely understand. Sending that love right back atcha! you've been a joy to get to know on here!
love this shot btw, what a wonderful idea! just don't float away too far or too long!
Congratulations!!!!!! I have loved your photos and creativity and this shot is no exception. Will you share how you did it? Have a great rest of the summer!
Congrads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very cool, I love the photo, great ending to your first year!! I can't wait to see what you have in store for this new year. Hurry back!! Don't stay away to long :-) (((Hugs))) :-)
Hi everyone, and thank you so much for your kind words!! This was such a fun and scary shot to do!
@roejan--I would be happy to share with you how I did it. First, I drove around to find where there was a park with a picnic table on a hill that wasn't surrounded by trees. It was actually kind of a tough thing to find. I bought the helium numbers at a party store and taped them together so they would stay put. Got my camera settings where I wanted them and gave about a half an hour description to my poor husband of what my vision was, lol!! I got on top of the picnic table and dropped one foot over the edge and balanced on the other one, and gave my husband directions on when to shoot!! So, technically, he took the picture, but I'm taking full credit!! When I got home and uploaded it, I used Picnik's clone tool to edit out the picnic table that you could see in the bottom of the picture. That was about it. Nothing too magical, but like I said, it was windy, and I'm scared of heights, and those balloons were huge! All of those things combined made it an interesting shoot. My goal this Fall is to take a Photo Shop class so I can learn how to do these things with true magic instead of blowing in the wind!!! And I'm sure I won't be gone long. I would miss this community far too long. I just haven't been able to give myself fully with all of the summer company that we have, and I really want to be able to do that again. I will still be popping in often, just not uploading as often this summer. Hugs to you all.
@roejan@tigervolleyball I love the clone tool on Picnik. You just grab a little piece of your picture that has the color you want, and click it over the area that you don't want. It works great! And Sarah, you are right!! It really wasn't technically hard at all. Just make sure the object you are on is firmly placed on the ground, and have someone to spot you in case you fall!!
Congratulations Sheri, what a wonderful journey. I will be done in about two weeks and was thinking of taking a break until the fall as well but who knows. This is a fantastic last shot, well done and best wishes throughout the rest of your summer. Hope you get to the lake.
Congratulations on the finishing your project! And what a way to end it. This is so creative and fun. I have really enjoyed your pictures and always enjoy your comments. You are such a thoughtful person, and I can tell that you are a loyal and fierce friend, mother, and wife. I hope you have a fabulous rest of the summer and I do hope to see you back here in the fall.

Wow, Sheri! Missed this when you posted it because I haven't been checking in regularly. Every now and then I upload a few if I think they're good enough but then have a few days off. This is a great way to celebrate your last shot. What a clever, clever girl you are! Congratulations on a fabulous year of shots and I'm so glad to have met you through 365. It's nice to know you won't totally disappear from the scene. Love and hugs to you across the miles and start saving for that trip Downunder! The Little Bay kangaroos are waiting for you.

Thanks for your comment on my recent shot, Sheri. Glad to know you're still looking in occasionally. Really miss your presence on 365 and am so pleased to hear from you.
Just popping by to say thank you for your recent good wishes on one of my shots (and your very kind remarks on the one of Peggy's that she posted today.) As a family, we've been having many grievous trials and tribulations over the past 12 months and are only just crawling out from behind the protective barrier we've put up in order to save our collective sanity. So I'm sorry for not replying to you any sooner. I stopped posting for a few months last year then resumed again when I found I needed some positive distraction and it has certainly worked. I hope all is well with you, Sheri. You are one of the people I miss most on this site.
