Not so fanciful today, took a shell from our bathroom and walked down to a local cove near my home and set up a shot for todays alphabet.
The Nautilus is not native to our coast, mainly found in the Indo-Pacific, I found the shell in a charity shop.
beautiful! I once saw live nautili (?) at the Denver Zoo. I was amazed because they live so deep in the ocean. I wondered if the tank had to be specially pressurized. Their eyes look like wintermint life savers ...
thanks everyone, it really is a beautiful spot. I spent a lot of my childhood here, long summer holidays with packed lunches, fishing from the rocks, diving for flatties, body surfing in the late summer when the waves get bigger. Was trying to add a link to Google maps without success, if anyone is interested, please do a search on Google maps for Church Ope Cove Portland
This is so great! Love that the colors of the shell are so bright and strong - and then there is the more sombre greys and the blues of the background. Great shot!
