Splash!

I had fun experimenting with shutter speeds and water today. The different effects that can be created by varying the exposure are almost magical to me. For this shot of a fountain at City Hall, I liked a fast shutter speed to isolate the falling water drops.
Amazing.
Congrats.
What exactly is this place?

@matheusjm Thank you, Matheus! I should have mentioned that. It is a fountain at out City Hall. The fountain has glass block towers where the water pours out.

Again, congrats for the great shot.

Nice job Lisa - recommend viewing large to see the lovely individual droplets. Did you use a tripod for this?
March 11th, 2013
Very cool capture. I agree that it's fascinating to play with the settings.
March 11th, 2013
Wet and wild !!---- cool shot----love it :)
March 11th, 2013
@jankoos Thank you, Jan. I didn't use a tripod. It's critical with slow shutter speeds but not as much so with fast.

Very cool! I love the look of the water and silvery tones.

March 11th, 2013
I agree, varying shutter speed and water is a great combination. Fantastic shot and processing. It looks like a flooded building.
March 11th, 2013
Stunning shot! I feel refreshed, just by looking at this!
March 11th, 2013
Terrific shot Lisa. All that motion trapped in such a vigorous shot.
March 11th, 2013
So interesting! Good shot.
March 11th, 2013
The reflective glass and the stop-action water drops have very similar qualities. I like the action and the nearly monochromatic look to this one.
March 11th, 2013
Whoa! It's like a water ride...cool.
March 11th, 2013
so much going on here, it is like a mini water world. very interesting!!
March 11th, 2013
Perfect choice of shutter speed. Love how you've frozen the motion of the water droplets, the gorgeous light and the little rainbow on the left! :)
March 11th, 2013
Very nice crisp catch! Wow. Love the glass blocks...
March 11th, 2013

Those glass blocks really add to what you've done with the water!!

Oh wow Lisa this looks really great. Reminds me of flood gates being opened and the water rushing through. Wonderful lighting.
March 11th, 2013
Very nice- the glass adds to the sparkle of the water because the light is reflected by both. Good shot!
