Perched above my town on a mountain plateau is this large cross. My family and I decided it was the perfect evening to make the roughly 2 mile hike up to it. By the time we reached the top, the sun was just beginning to set. We weren't alone though; joining us was a veritable crowd of sunset admirers from families to young lovers, all gazing to the horizon. It was a beautiful Easter sunset in our little corner of the world - a perfect close to a lovely day.
Somehow a touching picture..
Really like the people at the base (love it that they are only seen in the dark part) Beautiful the three ! strokes in the sky (there are more but three jumping in my eye), stunning colors and as always a great composition.
This is truly stunning. A fav! Not just for the beautiful colours of the sunset sky, silhouettes of the people and the Cross but also the fulfilled promises this image represents at Easter. Spectacular image! Well worth the hike. Thank you so much for sharing it!
This is one of those instant favs for me. I love the sunset color but most of all I like your exposure which still allows us to vaguely see the silhouettes of the people lined up with you to view the end of the day.
How beautiful.. 2 miles is a bit of a hike but to see a sunset like this, well worth the effort. I agree with Amy, love the way you can just see the people.. lovely capture Lisa!!
Very beautiful and love the figures which make it a softer image and more human ... the cross alone would be very different ... amazing sky ... has to be a fab
I just talked with my daughter and the name of the Boise photographer is Chad Case. He just had a feature in NYTimes. Here is a link to his website. She thinks he might teach classes. http://www.chadcasephotography.com/
@judis Thank you so much for the link! I just browsed it. Such amazing photographs! I will definitely check back with him. It looks like he offers workshops now and then. What a wonderful opportunity that would be! Really appreciate you finding and sharing this information, Judi!
WOW! This is really beautiful, Lisa - a FAV for me, as well. Everything about it is wonderful and your composition is outstanding. You are incredibly talented!
@danitech Thanks so much, Danielle! What a shock this to me because this photo never even made it to the PP - as far as I saw anyway. The workings of those photo monkeys are very mysterious, aren't they?!

All the lines and colours are wonderful :-)
Fav :-)
Sometimes they are there only briefly.
