This photo was taken from a restaurant patio where we were celebrating my son's birthday. The large cloud over the mountains is actually a plume of smoke from distant forest fires. The light from sunset illuminated it beautifully - a captivating, but ominous sight.
Thank you all for your comments and FAVS on my recent photos. I delight in every one of them.
It doesn't look like a cloud of smoke- it's so white! Definitely would be a sobering sight to be there in person and know what it is and yet it's so pretty.
you seem to be hitting all the high notes so perfectly Lisa ... I was going to say the vacation did you wonders ... but your talent was always special ... so nothing changed ....fav!!
Beautiful shot! Love the details, every layer completely focused and the colours are fantastic. Amazing amount of smoke, I would have thought it a cloud at first...hope they have had the fires out already.
So many wonderful layers to this and I really like the way the foreground is quite contrasty in comparison to the background. A lovely shot. It must feel ominous to see those clouds of smoke.
Beautifully dramatic shot - great layers and colours.
Makes me wish I had time to start doing canvas embroidery again - this would be wonderful to intepret in different textured stitches or by mixing colours in the needle. .. Sorry for rabbiting on! :D
Oh my. I didn't know there were fires so close to you now. Idaho is in a very serious situation. This is beautiful, with great color and an interesting reflection.
Happy Birthday to your boy!
