As summer draws to a close, I find myself paying more attention to the last flowers of the year. Soon they will pass to be replaced by falling leaves and falling temperatures. It's been a beautiful season, probably one of the most satisfying that I can remember in a long while, thanks in no small part to this project and the awareness it creates.
I took this shot of a reddish colored sunflower with my 50 mm lens wide open into the light. The result is almost overexposed, but I liked the way the flower seems suspended in air and the multicolored bokeh fills out the frame.
And I know exactly what you mean about the awareness piece. While 365 sometimes consumes me to excess, the thing that my wife *likes* about it is that I am suddenly seeing what she's been seeing all along.
Gorgeous light, colours, bokeh amd composition Lisa. I went to the sunflower field today too with exactly the same thoughts, aah, soon to be gone. You have captured that feeling beautifully.
Very pretty! I'm feeling the same way about the end of summer- sorry to see it go since this one has not been as hot and the fall seems to be on the cooler side. But so many great photo opportunities this year!
Indeed. How grateful are we for taking a closer look at life..
What I'm noticing about fall: spectacular light and the stripped bare look of flowers as they lose water and color. A different kind of beauty. Elegance.
Beautiful capture, love the illumination.
