We went to Skegness today for a day trip. An English seaside resort 'popular' with the people of the East Midlands.
We walk along the coastline, taking in the air (we did about 8 miles).
I was hoping to find a stranger and was lucky to find Alma.
Alma was sitting on a bench admiring the view of the beach and sea. Quite a grey and overcast view (as can be seen by the background).
I smiled and nodded at Alma (who was some distance away).
Alma was sat near some fast food mobile catering stalls and I took a few pictures of the stalls.
Alma started walking towards me along the promenade with her "zimmer frame on wheels".
I took a picture of her approaching and as she got towards me I told her I had got her in the shot and showed her the image on the back of the camera screen.
Alma said she was having difficulty seeing it due to the glare (and her dark glasses too).
I then struck up a conversation with her explaining I was an amateur photographer.
Alma thought I was one of the "old school seaside photographers" who used to take pictures of holidaymakers back in the day and then print and sell them to her ! I remember taking a picture of an old lady a couple of years ago at the seaside and she too thought I was a "seaside photographer". Strange that they both thought this ! I explained to Alma that the days of the "seaside photographer" had gone as everyone now has mobile phone cameras or digital cameras.
"Will I be in the paper then" asked Alma.
"Not the paper, but I will put your picture on the internet, if that's OK"
Alma smiled and nodded.
"that's nice then" she said
Alma retired to the seaside and walks up and down the prom with her zimmer frame every day.
"How far do you walk?" I asked
"Oh it is about a mile"
"That's very impressive Alma"
"Well you have to keep mobile" she said
I tried to show Alma the photos on the back of the camera, but the glare meant she was having issues.
I told her they were really nice pics and that brought a nice smile to her face.
The picture was difficult to edit because of her dark glasses, but I managed to get some detail in her eyes my adjusting levels and brightness in Rawtherapee, The Fuji Velvia 100 Generic film emulation seemed to hep enhance the sunglasses too
