100 Strangers : Round 2 : No. 149 : Ioana

We went to Nottingham today for some Sunday Lunch.

Jane went to get her "eyebrows done" and I had a wander around some of my favourite stranger locations.

As I was walking through the Lace Market I saw Ioana with two of her friends. I was struck by Ioana's fabulous hair colour, but they were a considerable distance in front of me , so I sort of wrote of the possibility of a stranger picture.

However, as I walked into the grounds of St. Mary's church I saw Ioana with her white Pentax DSLR taking pictures of the church, so I went over to her and introduced myself.

Ionana agreed straight away to be part of my strangers project and I asked her to stand by the beautiful stone wall of the church, as I knew it would be a great backdrop. I also asked her to look over her right shoulder as that was looking towards towards a soft sunny sky and this would guarantee me some catchlights.

Ioana is a 2nd year Fashion Design student and Coventry University. She was visiting Nottingham for the day.

Ioana had a lovely accent and I asked her what it was. Ioana told me it was a Romanian accent.

I showed Ioana my camera and told her it was a Sony A6000. Iona told me she knew what it was and was and she really liked it.

Ionana asked me where she could find my pics, so I gave her a contact card.

We shook hands and she made her way back to her friends. I waved to her friends and thanked them for waiting.

I really like this photo, it is a striking portrait and Ioana has beautiful photogenic eyes.

The photo was edited in Rawtherapee and GIMP.

Thanks for being stranger 149 Ioana, I hope you like this photo when you see it. Good luck with your Fashion degree.

Terrific portrait Phil, the backward glance is perfect as is the way the picture's off centre. Love the hair!

@fbailey thanks felicity the , a female portrait always works well over the right shoulder rather than the left , so one of my friends tells me :)

You are getting good at positioning people for good portraits! ps - what happens when you have only got half an eyebrow?
