THE BRIDGE AT EVESHAM by phil_howcroft

THE BRIDGE AT EVESHAM

'Workman Bridge' is a beautiful bridge that spans the river Avon at Evesham

We were in Evesham today and walked by the river in the warm spring sunshine. The gentle sun lit up the bridge.

I wanted to get almost parallel to the bridge to photograph it, but there was a dodgy man drinking special brew (a strong lager beer) where I wanted to stand, so this is a close as i got to show off the bridge and it's nice architecture.

I tried to show the reflections of the arches and once again opted for a B/W conversion. I've had a few bridges in my 365 and a few reflections too, but hey reflections and bridges work well for me.

BTW : I do like colour, but B/W keeps drawing me in !

BTW2 : Drinking alcohol in open public spaces tends to be illegal in the UK.

Phil
So if I ever get to the UK I should keep my flask in my purse? ;) Very nice composition, Phil. The reflection is lovely.

Fantastic! I love the reflection

@meredithwb Meredith, the ban on drinking in publc places is not universal, but has come about because of the anti social behaviour of a small miority of people. I'm sure a respectable lady from America will be OK sneaking a drink from her flask.

I'm glad the reflections and composition meet with your approval

@kerristephens Thanks Kerri, I think the light in Spring does make nice reflections

Wonderful angle and composition. And I rather like the jagged reflection

Good angle indeed, like a giant mouth drinking in the river.

Beautiful. Love the lines.

Great bridge shot. Love the detail you were able to capture in the brick. Nicely done. (and you know I do love a good b&w!)

@jenlyn999 Jennifer, thanks, I took quite a few pictures of the bridge , some from distance, some from mid range, but this was about the best I got :)

Well I'm glad you didn't lecture the drinker on his possible infraction or we might have been fishing you and your camera out of the Avon!

In regard to your photo; I love the way your eye is drawn along the arch and its reflection. Very pleasing and harmonious.

@gill Gill, thanks for your comments, I know you like a good reflection :) , I think this one was helped by some good light and a bit of movement in the river. I was going to post a colour shot as the sun had lit up the brickwork with a golden yellow colour, but I could not resist doing a black and white:)

@allie912 Ha Ha Alison, he was probably harmless, but I decided it wa probably wise not to infring the personal space of a man and his special brew !

@allie912 Allison, 'pleasing and harmonious' ... i like that as a description for this image. It would have been even better if I had a couple of ducks in the first arch

Lovely bridge... looks very similar to Richmond. Not trying to sound old before my time, but they don't make 'em like nowadays!
