Not a line from Goldi Locks and the three bears, but a question my wife asked our little rescue dog Ruby !
Wednesday was a beautiful day and my wife is off for the Easter vacation, she was sat in the sun on our patio and nipped into the kitchen to get a drink.
Ruby was meant to be in her bed (in the shade), but decided that a sun lounger was a far better option and 'stole' my wife's seat !!!
I was working from home on Wednesday and my wife shouted me to look out of the window. I quickly grabbed my camera to get a quick shot of the scene !!!
I've adjusted the midtones and contrast slightly so you can see Ruby better...she was quite dark in the sun and you could not see her contours very well !!
Not the best pic in my 365, but a candid capture, showing how well little Ruby has settled into her new home. I'm sure her bed is far more comfy than the sun lounger , but she has a mind of her own on where SHE wants to sleep !!!!
BTW: The newspaper on the patio, is not that days newspaper !!!
Aren't dogs crafty, she looks lovely there lying in the sun. Our 2 dogs & cat are always lying were we want to be. I regularly see a dog lying in the sun on top of one of those big garden trampolines, I mean to stop & capture it one day !
I love how Ruby made herself comfortable in the chair when her bed is right behind it. Animals are funny creatures. I love it! A shot to give any pet owner a giggle.
A friend just told me about her dachshund Penny's routine of badgering her off the couch so Penny can take over her spot. This is a unique perspective on telling your story. I love the way you were able to get both Ruby's unused bed as well as her preferred spot. It really captures the moment.
Ace typical whippet! All 4 share my bed and it can be a job to get in! I often wake up to find a whippet with its head on the pillow next to me and the rest under the duvet! Best hot water bottles ever and they never go cold in the night! As for the sofa- I
am normally allowed to
perch on the edge! One always leaps on me in passenger seat of the car or campervan! Canny little critters! Ace shot of the wily whippet Ruby's sun chair snatch
Hahaa - bet she'd been waiting for the opportunity! But you haven't told us if your wife threw her off? Bet she didn't! Definitely a bird's eye view tells it best.
@whippeteer Frances, I don't know how you cope with four whippets all at once, respect to you, I've never seen a dog jump as high as Ruby does, she leaps onto our decking from the grass and flies through the air so gracefully...I need to capture that on my camera !
great shot Phil - black dogs are really hard to get great shots of - I knwo from having Milly for a couple of years! As to her bed being more comfortable than your wife's...NO WAY! they always want to sit where you are especially if it is in the sun - even if they are too hot!! THis really tickled me! great shot! PS don't know if you saw this? http://365project.org/sparkle/around-the-worl/2011-04-22
Excellent - every picture tells a story, and this is a great capture of the scene. Do you think she's angling for 'top-dog' position in the household?! lol
@phil_howcroft Oh yeah really get cracking cos those shots are hard to get just right. David used to do some fab leaps for the frizbee and ring, I only ever got a handful of good ones and maybe nothing as spectacular as his leap deserved. He does not bother with any of that now so you may only have a 2 year window of opportunity!!
@sparkle I agree! One of mine is nearly all white and David has a fair bit of black on him and it can be very difficult to get an exposure to suit both of them in the same shot
ha ha, very funny. It's amazing how animals have a knack of looking like they've been sleeping somewhere for hours & hours, whereas in reality they've just snook somewhere warm that they shouldn't have!! LOL
