On the beach near our hotel you could have a came ride !
Apparently the camels walked 1.5 hours to get to the beach and they stayed on the beach from about 11 am to 5 pm
This shot is of the camels going home after a long day taking tourists a ride along the dunes !
I got a few pictures of the camels but this is my fave as they trudge over the last dune and out of sight, contrasted against the big sky !
I've nearly finished posting my holiday / vacation images. I've got one more to upload. I hope I have kept them fresh for you showing a variety of images ! I did seem to spend a lot of time running around the dunes and waters edge snapping away !
Yhis is a great composition in so many ways. Love the horizontal flow, the almost silhouettes of the camels, the contrast of clouds, sand and grass, the textures of the different bands and the of course the overall image. Markng this a fav.
@allie912 Allison, thanks for the fave and I'm glad you saw the 'layer / bands' flowing horizontally. It's nice when someone sees the same things as yourself :)
@patsyjphillips Thanks for the fave Patsy , I think I was spoiled a bit last week for photo opportunities , now I'm back home it's 'struggling time' again as I hunt around for things to post !
@kerristephens Kerri, many thanks, I'm worried now, five comments and all five have fave'd it !!! This looks like being my most fave'd pic of my 365 :), thanks again :)
This is a beautiful photo Phil ! I love the camels on the horizon against the sky & the tufty grass in the foreground ! Thanks for your suggestion re camera club & it has crossed my mind to join Garstang camera club ! Will do the course first then probably join.
@seattle Constance, glad you like this and even better that you clicked the fave button :)...I'd never have though a bunch of Camels could be so popular :)
They seem to have lost 2 wise men.
Very nice photo. I used to quite like taking pics of the wild camels when I lived overseas. They're surprisingly photogenic :)
Beautiful shot! My grandma was always very proud of the fact that she first got on a camel in the Canaries when she was 75 - I presume it was also the last time! I tried it once in Kenya and it decided to throw me off into a thorn bush - I held on for grim death - riding a bucking camel is no joke and that thorn bush was evil I'd have been torn to ribbons if I had been unceremoniously deposited into it - so it was a battle I was determined to win! Thanks for stirring some stirring memories of family camel encounters!!
@whippeteer Ha Ha, although I should not laugh Frances, because your 'camel experience' did sound a little scary !! Funny how an image can stir memories in us :) Thanks again :)
@anron Good spot Anita, although there is another 'wise man' a few metres behind , collecting the camel poo in a fishing net !!! Once they leave the popular bit of the dunes he stops pooper scooping !!!
@sparkle You have to totally relax and go with the rocking motion I found it quite relaxing till the thornbush incident! Turned into a white knuckle ride - LOL!
@sparkle thanks juliette :) well i did not have the pleasure of having a ride on a camel this time, but I did do on a previous visit a few years ago :)
