Workmen resting (seen from the number 58 bus) by phil_howcroft

Workmen resting (seen from the number 58 bus)

Number 58 bus, front seat, drivers side, top deck (shot through a murky bus window)

Two workmen sit down for a drink and a chat.

I kept the image colour because i like the blues and the high vis jacket.

There are some nice reflections in the window of the 'fish restaurant'.

I recommend shooting from the top deck of a bus, you get great views and see things you don't get at street level

This is my third shot on my 365 from the top deck of a bus
I like your bus shot - of course getting workmen resting is altogether easier than getting them actually fixing something!

Hehehe .. love the signage, reminding pedestrians to walk round them while they have their cuppa! lol

one of the workmen has had way too many of those fish and chips! Great candid photo, like the colours and scene

Just trying to,make out what they are sitting on. Looks like they have a sign either side of them too for pedestrians to walk round them !! One has his tea & a ciggie so he's OK !

great shot phil, there are so many amusing things going on here - the pedestrians sign for two people sitting, the obvious workmen not working... nice prespective

Fab shot! I love the primary colours in this - it makes it very striking. Fav of course. I used to be a big fan of buses in London, but I have found it pretty hard to get a front seat here. One day I must go on a bus photoshoot you are right it is a great vantage point. What lens do you favour? Did you see that Dan Cruickshank tram footage I mentioned?

Great capture

Nice shot are they just digesting their oyster's and mussles so they dont get indigestion.

This is actually a shot of public workers doing what public workers do...

@whippeteer Frances, thanks for the fave,I hope you find a front seat soon.

I googled Dan Cruickshank and his film of nottingham, but I cannot find it.

I didn't know who he was until I saw he hosted a BBC2 series on cine films (I saw a few of them while channel hopping).

@andycoleborn cheers Andy

@sparkle thanks Juliette, it's surprising what you can get from a quick grab shot photo :)
July 26th, 2011
@judithg good point Judith, but some of their mates were working hard a bit further down the road !
July 26th, 2011
@sarahhorsfall Sarah I think it is the sign and the sitting workmen that make the shot :)
July 26th, 2011
@jenrobcarr Jennifer, thanks for the comment, your words brought a smile to my face
July 26th, 2011

July 26th, 2011
haha such a great candid shot. Good quality for a bus window shot, or was it an open topped bus?
July 26th, 2011
ooops just read your description and answered my own question!

@phil_howcroft Oh that is a shame there was nother one on tonight all about football you would have loved it - ancient footage of the guy Fatty Falkes who is the reason for the "who ate all the pies" chant he was 6'2" and weight 24 stone but was as nimble as a cat and a great goalie - he was massive! (Sheffield Wednesday or Bolton Wanderers can't remember now c 1902). They also had the first ever footage of ManU on their first ever game they were going to call themselves Manchester Central but decided it sounded too like a railway station!!
Here it is - BBC4 The Lost World of Mitchell and Kenyon
you have 7 days before it vanishes! http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0074r81

LOL! I think bus pics are a little bit addictive!
July 29th, 2011
@anron ha ha anita yes , .....you must try for the front seat though :)
July 29th, 2011
oh, i thought they were working. Maybe to your untrained eye it seems they are rest and recuperating, but i expect they are deep in discussion about the logistics of a particularly difficult excavation.
