a nice sky by phil_howcroft

a nice sky

Struggling for a decent picture today and it was not until late in the evening that I got my camera out.

The sky over Arnold was 'half decent' so deserved a quick shot.

This is the sky seen through the gable ends of the houses across our street. I went +2EV on exposure compensation to try and do justice to colours.

It would have been better if the chimney's and TV Ariel's contrasted against the sky, but they were situated at opposite ends of both houses.

My 365 is a bit of a struggle at the moment, which is probably reflected in this 'last minute' shot !
Beautiful sky!!! Love the composition between the two houses

It's a corking sky! Keep at it Phil - I'm definitely finding it tough - 200+ ideas used up & I find myself getting pickier & more disenchanted with what I post. These things go in cycles though - inspiration will come back hopefully!!! Anyway - this one is lovely!

Quite a few people struggling at the moment Phil but do keep at it please! This is a beautiful pink sky & it's accentuated by the roof tops ..a great idea ! I think inspiration seems to be lacking around the half way mark!

Lovely colors, Phil. I like the contrast with the angles of the gables. Don't be discouraged. You're halfway home!

thanks phil! :)

Phil, you captured a gorgeous sky. I think it was just beckoning for you to take its photo. :) Nicely done. Try the theme if you are struggling - the list of TV shows is seemingly endless, right?

It's a gteat shot Phil. I like the framing between the houses. I think we all struggle at times. Just the sheer fact of having to make time, or rotten weather can be off putting, but we all seem to bounce back eventually.

Really like this shot - fabulous colour skies, the exposure has set these off well. Love the "book-end" houses - fabulous composiiton - really clever shot.

...this is a great shot Phil. Honestly, know 'the struggle', just hang in there!

Anyway - FAV fer me.

I am really taken with this shot I like the minimalism of it and interesting composition - very quirky and unusual - I think the aerials and chimneys may have cluttered it up too much and spoilt the purity you have captured here.

Last minute shot??? This is fabulous!!! Great composition and a stunning sky.
August 10th, 2011
I think this is lovely - great colours and textures in the sky - and I like the simplicity of the two rooftops :o)

August 12th, 2011
@whippeteer thanks frances, it is rather minimalistic and you are probably right Ariel's and chimneys would have spoilt the effect :)
August 12th, 2011
