My final 'Football is back' image to complete the first week of the season.
This is not quite what I had in mind when I visited the Reebok on Sunday to see my team Bolton Wanderers play the richest club in the world (Manchester City).
As part of the pre match entertainment a samba band was 'entertaining' the fans.
What's samba got to do with football I ask you. Well the beautiful game is always best when played by Brasil and Brasil and their fans always do samba at the stadiums...so a samba band on a grey murky Sunday afternoon in Bolton is about as tenuous a link as you could wish for.
I hope I've not lost any credibility on here by posting an image of a scantily dressed samba dancer , but it was something I witnessed and therefore took a shot.
I suppose I posted the image because I like the contrast between the 'excited young lad' and the two rather 'disinterested men' in the background. It's not the best composed image I've ever shot, but it does capture the moment.
As for the match ...
Bolton Wanderers - 2
The richest club in the world funded by Oil Money - 3
We didn't have enough possession over the 90 minutes of the game to sustain any long periods of pressure.
The image is shot outside the stadium ...and the last time I was there (May 2011) , this location looked like this........
Great shot Phil, not at all what I was expecting for your football is back 3! The young lad on the right really makes this image for me, the normality of the spectators against the flamboyance of the samba band is just great.
Who needs to go to Rio when you've got Bolton? And how come you don't support Nottingham? I nearly took some interesting 'Newcastle supporters drinking at 10am' shots while we were away but after careful consideration put my camera away!
great shot Phil - I agree with Andy, that young lad looks way too excited at a bit of flesh!! Shame about the scoreline but the entertainment looks great fun!
Love this shot. I think you did an awesome job capturing a fun moment. So odd to see a Samba dancer at a football game. You have to love it! Well captured.
Nice shot Phil, but unlike you I hate footballeven as a kid. So I would rather watch this young lady and ten more like her running round a field than 11 men in shorts kicking a ball. But each to his own good job we all not the same or life would be boreing:-)
So it had nothing to do with the bikini clad girl then Phil !!! This is not a photo I would have expected to see at a football match, specially in Bolton , but you have caught the atmosphere nicely !! A great stadium you have there I can see it when I go down the M61 to Manchester !
@judithg Judith , I support the Wanderers because I am a Bolton lad , l left the north west when I graduated from uni' to take a job in Nottingham (changed jobs a few times since , but still live in the great city of Nottingham)
Well there you go - I grew up in Preston and my best dog-walking friend from down the road grew up in Bolton - we like to 'up the accent' when we go out together (though mine is still very Lancashire anyway) !
@happypat Pat, I did struggle deciding whether or not to post this picture...as I didn't want it to lose any creditability for posting as juliette states .. @sparkle ...some flesh !!!
The image does seem quite popular though, so I think my concerns were unfounded !
LOL She is going to catch her death!! Going round Bolton dressed like that..what ever next! Hope she had her eye on that over excited lad there...he could just catch her one! Sory about the result..hey ho...always next week....Ipswich are doing their utmost to get relagated already!
Cracking shot Phil - I though it must be Arnold festival! Colours are great and somehow so out of place on a grey day in blighty it is incongruously delightful :-) Sorry to hear the Trotters did not whoop man city, but that is a very respectable score....next time
great shot, shame about the result.
