If you were a street cleaner........bet you wish this was your street !!

Last of the beach pictures (hurray say all Phil's friends on 365 !!!).

I thought I'd share a little scene we witnessed each morning on the beach. These two men were responsible for cleaning the beach. They would drive along the waters edge each morning picking up bits of driftwood and rubbish blown in from the sea.

One thing I observed is that there were no litter bins on this long long stretch of beach. People took their litter home with them.

Several wheelie bins could be found at the main entrance to the beach (only one access point to the beach). I was impressed with how the beach tidy policy worked......making people responsible for their own rubbish........maybe the people of Menorca take pride in their environment and island....as the logo on the wagon says 'Menorca reserva de biosfera' .......

Don't you wish the people of England took pride in their environment? If I walk down our local High Street at the end of the day ....I see all kind of items discarded on the floor ....... chips / fast food wrappers / ciggies / chewing gum / sweet wrappers / drinks cans / drinks cartons / newspapers.......it's embarrassing !! Sorry I will get off my high horse now !

How I agree with you about the litter, I just hate it ! I particularly notice the litter in our country when we arrive back from NZ in the late winter & all the rubbish is so noticeable in the bottom of the hedges. This looks like a lovely island ...a place I have never been to but hope to in the future !

Thats one of the reasons why I prefer to be on the beach in Winter - fewer people means less discarded beer cans and dirty nappies. Oh I wont get started Phil or I'll never stop!

Fun shot of the daily routine for this beach. I am in total agreement of our society being more responsible for our trash. Nice to have the take in take out policy and see it working.
