This is shot from the inside the stadium concourse at half time as a fan walks up the steps and back to his seat. Shot contre jour ....or contre floodlights !!!.....the man looks a bit like a rock star entering the stadium stage for a concert.......there were no stars on the pitch though...just a load of over paid useless players who are destined for relegation from the premier league !
I converted it to B/W as I felt it made the image more atmospheric...not that there was much atmosphere in the stadium as both Wanderers huffed and puffed to a 1-1 draw.
Both Wanderers? Yes both Wanderers.......
Bolton Wanderers 1 Wolverhampton Wanderers 1
I expect both teams will be relegated at the end of the season !
Oh dear Phil I would just give up on this season !!! Lovely contre jour photo (as you taught me!) Love that shadow on the right wall & this is a bit like climbing a hill, you want to see what's over the top !!!
Viewed on black (a must!!) and without any explanation about this photo - it has as others suggested, a gritty feeling. It's got a sense of anticipation captured so well ... love this!!!
I faved some photos of yours the other night!!!! ;)
@gill Gill, Happy New Year, great to see you back on 365, many thanks for your kind words :) and thnx for the fave's too (I'm not an ace so I don't see who's faved my pics......but I've looked at your fave pics and seen the one's you did. Thnx )
Really great shot Phil - love the shadows both sides of him! Another pants performance huh? Oh well, maybe the relegation will make them buck their ideas up next season! Hope you had a great new year and 2012 is a good one for you!
@sleepdozer57 cheers Peter, Happy New Year to your family too..........I've been trying to do this shot for a while , but have never had a lone figure in the shot before
I like your analogy to the rock star. The shot is certainly reminiscent of those big concerts. Your analysis of the game and the teams was quite amusing. I didn't realize teams could lose their status by poor play. That should be a good incentive to do better. In the US, team owners would never allow it. They have much too much money invested in their team no matter how badly they play!
@allie912 allison, there are 20 teams in the premiere league, they all play each other twice (38 games)......you get 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and no points for a loss....at the end of the season the team with the most points are crowned champions, the bottom 3 teams are relegated and the top three teams from the league below are promoted.
The whole of English football is based on a league structure.... so in theory, even the smallest of teams can progress up the hierarchy of leagues.......Bolton are a relatively small town team, who have been 'punching above their weight' for the past 11 years !
@swilde Sue, lol, lol, I think 'huffing ' is all part of the 'enjoyment' of being a footie fan....note 'enjoyment' is in quotes, because it cannot currently be described as 'enjoyment' !
@judithg thanks judith , i've gone a bit contre jour / black and white over the New Year weekend....but they do make for striking images if you get them right :)
