50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 5 : The Traction Engine Man

The Nottingham Riverside Festival is an excellent annual event and always a good photo opportunity.

I took my 50mm lens down to the event in an attempt to grab a few images for my 50 mono portraits.

This is the traction engine man who proudly owns a 'threshing engine" that when new was supplied by Geo R Dawson & Sons of Bicker, Boston Lincs

Converted in GIMP / G'MIC with and Ilford XP2 mono film filter

I asked the gentleman if I could photograph him and he willingly obliged. The first time I've asked a stranger if I can photograph them. Quite a success I think
This is brilliant Phil! Great character & the background is perfect as well.

@judithg thanks judith, I knew the traction engines were at the festival, so I knew I could get a shot and I knew before I wanted a landscape format :)
