50 mono portraits at 50mm : No. 25 : Chairman Dave
Well I am half way through my 50 mono portraits now. I started in late July, so it's took me four months to get here. At his rate I will finish in late March, possibly in time for Easter.
Dave is chairman of Arnold and District Camera Club. He is proudly wearing his A&DCC polo shirt. Quite a few of the committee wear them, but I don't have one , well with me being a follower of fashion (yes right !!!!), they would clash with my wardrobe !
Dave sells glasses (spectacles) for a living, he travels up and down the A1 corridor from North Nottingham right up to Newcastle. His portfolio of photographs reflect his journeys, with some cracking North East urban shots and atmospheric coastline shots from classic British seaside resorts like Bridlington, Cleethorpes and Skegness.
For somebody who claims not to be IT literate and not very savvy when it comes to pc's and technology, Dave has self taught himself and mastered Photoshop post processing. Dave is an expert on the very complex subject of layers.
I post processed this in GIMP with auto levels, a G'MIC mono filter of Ilford Delta filn and bit of sharpening via use of the GIMP sharpen filter (not as harsh as the unsharp mask)
Maybe a tad soft and grainy, but the shooting conditions were not ideal and besides I think it makes for a better shot than a pin sharp crystal clear clinical shot (OK maybe not , but it sounds like a good excuse to me)
He looks a bit of fun......he polo shirt is his badge of honour if he's chairman! Good portrait Phil I like the dRk back ground against the paler shirt,
@sangwann only a few clicks for post processing dione. Nothing fancy
