The elderly gentleman with a stick by phil_howcroft

The elderly gentleman with a stick

Shot at Gedling Country Park on Sunday.

I was waiting for a cyclist to pass by as I thought this would make for a cool photo opportunity. None came by in 5 minutes, so I opted for this elderly gentleman

Converted in Rawtherapee. I tone mapped the original colour shot and then added a film simulation filter of an Ilford XP2 film

I don't know if I should have gone with a bit more contrast. Lots of negative space and the gentleman is walking into the picture as opposed to out of it.

I like this processing - it gives movement and emphasis! Like the crook walking stick too!

I really like the pencil type drawing of this shot Phil. It fits the scene of the older walker perfectly! Your perspective works well too........I bet he thought what's that silly fool crouching down there for!!!

I like the angle and the strong, simple (compliment) composition - the man's stride is very purposeful and dynamic.

@dulciknit thanks alison, i wanted a big sky with fluffy clouds, but the sky has creates some nice "negative space" :)
